Hi, I’m Dani and I’m Practical.

I’m self employed and I work in the Live Events and Theatre Industry, I have my own business making Leathercrafts and I am a virtual PA! 

I met Dave whilst working on Pantomime in Darlington in the 2018/19 season and we moved in together in November 2019 – in Preston, which is our home base. Together we are DD PRACTICAL!

I am often described as *the most organised person* anyone knows, which really helps with juggling everything I am passionate about. You can check what I get up to below, our Leather Studio Build to the right and my YouTube Channel for all things, Leather, Stationery and Planning here.

There is no denying that I am passionate about the Creative Industries! I am creative and I have found my passions.

I started off as a Technician at School back in 2003. I then moved to Darlington and joined Darlington Operatic Society, where I got the opportunity to perform in Titanic the Musical.

Work commitments resulted in a permanent move to Backstage where I worked closely with lighting designers and technical managers. 

I am employed by a few theatres as an all rounder and by Darlington Operatic Society as Production LX. My leather business perfectly compliments the industry, evidenced by the amount of belts and tool pouches I make! 

A little pandemic got in the way of working in live events in 2020 (and beyond) so I started my own business ; DD Practical – Handmade Leathercrafts. This is my ‘side hustle’ of sorts and compliments my work in the Live Events and Theatre Industry beautifully.

During Summer 2022 I also started working as a Virtual PA, because I am a nerd and LOVE admin!

I have a large skillset to support your business. I have even designed and published physical products for my clients to compliment their online businesses.

I’m a bit of a Jack of all Trades.

I love working in Lighting as that’s where I started out. However, I can put my hand to most things. I’m more than happy to dig in and help other departments out when needed.

I have experience as a Followspot Operator, Production LX, Audio 2, Truck loading/unloading, Stage Crew, Wardrobe, Props, Scenic Artist, Set Dressing, Stage Door Keeper, Administration & Creative Content.

I am an exceptionally organised individual! With a ‘right first time’ attitude, I am committed to my personal and professional development and I am prepared to go the extra mile to ensure I can provide an extraordinary experience for everyone.

I have completed training in the following areas; COVID-Safe Workplace, Safety with Electrics, Safe Use of Personal Fall Protection, Working at Height, Manual Handling and Back Care, First Aid and Safe Use of Tallescopes.

I come fully prepared with my own safety gear and tools. I have completed the IOSH Creative Industries Safety Passport. I have current Public Liability Insurance and I’m a member of BECTU. 

I also hold a full automatic driving licence with business insurance and we have a large van derived car with a wheelchair ramp – perfect for flight cases 😉 

I’m little with a bubbly personality, but don’t underestimate my strength! I also make a wicked brew!
